One of our most favorite jumping inspirations is the late photographer Philippe Halsman. He is famous for taking many jumping photographs of well-known celebrities, comedians, even politicians. He even had a jumping philosophy, which he called "jumpology," and is summed up in quote from Philippe himself:
"When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping and the mask falls so that the real person appears."
In honor of Philippe Halsman, Jump Because would like to challenge you all to submit a jumping photo that best represents - or reminds you of - that quote above.
All photos that are submitted will be posted on www.jumpbecause.com as one of our daily jumping features. However, one photo will be chosen as the winner of this contest and will be featured in a special area on our website for the next few months.
Please send your photos to jumpbecause@gmail.com with a mention of the challenge/contest in the subject or e-mail. You can still, of course, include your own personal "jump because" story.
We will accept photos submissions for this contest through Friday, September 2. The winner will be announced the following week, during the first week of September.
So, have at it! Get out there and jump :)
