How did you first hear about Jump Because?
through a friend

What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear the word "jump"?
FUN

We started Jump Because because we felt there was something special about jumping - and our hunch is that you might feel the same. Do you? What do you think sets jumping apart from things like hopping, running, and so on?
Jumping allows you to feel like you are a kid again where being silly is expected. Jumping is harder than hopping yet doesn't take as much of a commitment as being a runner. I have found that if I set the tone that jumping frees you from the humdrum of daily life and allows you to let down your guard that other people (although reluctant at first) will follow my lead.

This is a 2-part question. 1.) Do you remember the last time you jumped? If yes, when was it? 2.) How did you feel?
It has been a little while since I've jumped only because I'm currently pregnant, but the last time was when I was apple picking in October 2011. I felt silly, energized and happy while jumping with a friend!

Is there a post from www.jumpbecause.com that you have found to be especially awesome? What was it, and why was it so great?
Honestly, I love them all! That sounds generic, but I think it's amazing you've been able to capture the essence of life through these pictures! I particularly love seeing pictures of people jumping from all over the world.... very cool!

What's one interesting thing about yourself that you'd like to share?
I feel very lucky to have an understanding of what makes me happy in life. I try hard to not sweat the small stuff, which is easier said than done!

At jump because, we talk a lot about jumping. But, "standing because" is important, too. What do you stand for? This question is inspired by a traveling art exhibit called "What do you stand for?" put on by Art180, which is a youth art's organization. Like Jump Because, Art180 is based in Richmond, Virginia. ]]><![CDATA[Love liberates. ]]>Tue, 15 May 2012 05:04:44 -0800http://www.jumpbecause.com/1/post/2012/05/love-liberates.html"love. she liberated me to life, she continued to do that. and when she was in her final sickness i went out to san francisco and the doctor said she had 3 weeks to live, i asked her "would you come to north carolina?" she said yes. she had emphysema and lung cancer, i brought her to my home. she lived for a year and a half ..and when she was finally in extraneous she was on oxygen and fighting cancer for her life and i remembered her liberating me, and i said i hoped i would be able to liberate her, she deserved that from me.
she deserved a great daughter and she got one. so in her last days, i said "i understand some people need permission to go… as i understand it you may have done what god put you here to do. you were a great worker, you must've been a great lover cause a lot of men and if I'm not wrong maybe a couple of woman risked their lives to love you. you were a piss poor mother of small children but a you were great mother of young adults, and if you need permission to go, i liberate you".
and i went back to my house, and something said go back- i was in my pajamas, i jumped in my car and ran and the nurse said "she just gone". you see love liberates. it doesn't bind, love says i love you. i love you if you're in china, i love you if you're across town, i love you if you're in harlem, i love you. i would like to be near you, i would like to have your arms around me i would like to have your voice in my ear but thats not possible now, i love you so go. love liberates it doesn't hold. thats ego. love liberates."

How did you first hear about Jump Because? through a friend

What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear the word "jump"?

We started Jump Because because we felt there was something special about jumping - and our hunch is that you might feel the same. Do you? What do you think sets jumping apart from things like hopping, running, and so on?
It never ceases to amaze me how I can't control my facial expressions whatsoever while jumping. No matter how I try! I think jumping forces you to be in the moment like no other activity can do. Within the jump is a just a special place where you are only YOU.

I jumped this past weekend. It wasn't planned it wasn't photographed. I jumped onto my boyfriend's back for a piggyback ride to the car to help him bring in the groceries. Like always this jump made me smile and laugh and feel so lucky to have someone who understands why sometimes you just need a little pick-me-up.

All the posts with children jumping just warm my heart. It just makes me so happy to see the jumping joy on their little faces!

What's one interesting thing about yourself that you'd like to share?
I wanted to be veterinarian for most of my childhood/adolescence until I realized how much time you spend with your hand up a cow's butt! Now I'm a psychologist and wondering what I was so scared of....

I stand for my friends, my family, and my cat. I stand for silliness. I stand for helping others and letting yourself be helped (something I learned to do in 2011).
