"This photo is of my friend Jamie.  We figured that it was only fitting to take a jumpshot because of her successful finish in the Wasatch Back Ragnar 192 mile relay race.  The race course roughly follows the Wasatch mountain range from Logan, Utah to Park City, Utah over a 24 hour period.  Before anyone calls for my head on a platter I gave her two days to rest before we did the jumps.  Congratulations to Jamie whose team came in 51st out of 802 entrants!" - Rick

_"This is my good friend Ashley.  We had an afternoon to get outside and get some photos and when Ash showed up with this parasol and her sun dress I knew it was going to be a good day!  We have been to this location on the east bench of the Salt Lake Valley before and the clouds seem to hang over the mountains much of the time.  When the wind picked up and Ash nearly flew away I started screaming like a girl, hahaha.  We jump because there is nothing else like it in photography!!" - Rick

This photo was sent in as a submission for our current Jump Because Challenge + Contest: Giving Thanks.

In honor of Thanksgiving, Jump Because challenged you all to submit a jumping photo and a "jump because" story, keeping the spirit of Thanksgiving and this quote in mind:

"We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures." -Thornton Wilder

"I really appreciate this quote and particularly as a parent.  Through the years I've endured countless parent-teacher conferences, bloody noses, hurt feelings, first loves, BB guns, flat bicycle tires, bugs in pockets, time outs, new drivers license, too many goodbyes, stomach aches, annual fashion trends, good grades/bad grades, long hair/short hair, missing tools, empty gas tanks, tattle tails, white lies, broken favorite toys, visits to the vice-principles office, loose teeth, bedtime stories, camping, Easter dresses, sunny days/cloudy days ... and laughs.  Lots of laughs.  My family makes me alive and my only regret is for the few times I haven't counted my blessings and my heart may have been temporarily "unconscious" of my treasures.

Last Christmas we were all together for the first time in 5 years.  That was a moment worth jumping." - Rick

"I met some friends for lunch last January who were visiting Park City, Utah during Sundance Film Festival.  We finished eating and walked across the street to the park to grab some jump shots when these three Utah Highway Patrol Troopers came over.  They watched with muted interest and amusement, so I asked them to jump.  What a reaction, haha.  They are wearing their dress uniforms since the Utah State Legislature was in session and they had been at the State Capitol Building.  So much of what the police do is difficult and not too humorous so when they started jumping it brought out a side of them rarely seen.  They dropped their "cop" persona and gave us a glimpse of the real person underneath that uniform.  They drove away laughing like 12 year old's and I was happy they were so willing to jump for me." -Rick

Jump because... "this is the groom and his groomsmen at his wedding - you can tell they are all pretty excited about the event. The center guy in the suit jacket is the groom.

Usually the day is all about the bride - but we wanted to have something fun and special for all the men of the party to remember :). You can tell they are all good buddies and I think this shot will mean a lot to the groom in his last moments of being single and the camaraderie of the men who surround him." -Kristin
