Jenny's Jump-Star Interview:
How did you first hear about Jump Because?
through a friend

What is the first word that comes to mind when you hear the word "jump"?
Picture!

We started Jump Because because we felt there was something special about jumping - and our hunch is that you might feel the same. Do you? What do you think sets jumping apart from things like hopping, running, and so on?
For me, jumping, especially in photos, shows the ultimate expression of happiness, excitement and "lulz" (as my friends and I love to say).  When you're in the air, you can't really control your expression well, so what you see is genuine (and sometimes a little crazy).

This is a 2-part question. 1.) Do you remember the last time you jumped? If yes, when was it?  2.) How did you feel?
Well, the last time I *technically* jumped was last weekend when I was trying to reach something in my closet :) But the last time I *really* jumped was probably on my honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas last October. I was on the beach at sunset and the moment just demanded a jump, so I had my husband take a photo. Unfortunately there weren't many people on the beach so we couldn't get one taken together. Plus, most people don't know how to properly take "jump photos" since it takes a little practice :) It was still a great moment, though.

Is there a post from www.jumpbecause.com that you have found to be especially awesome? What was it, and why was it so great?
I have seen so many amazing photos over the years on Jump Because, I wouldn't even know how to find them at this point.  My favorites have been the ones at the top of mountains, where the jumper appears to be flying over them (I assume the jumpers are being safe and we are just seeing an illusion, of course!)

What's one interesting thing about yourself that you'd like to share?
I don't have much athletic ability, but I made the volleyball team in high school easily because of one reason alone: I could jump significantly higher than everyone else :) The coaches quickly learned that even though I could jump high, I still couldn't properly spike the ball!

At jump because, we talk a lot about jumping. But, "standing because" is important, too. What do you stand for? This question is inspired by a traveling art exhibit called "What do you stand for?" put on by Art180, which is a youth art's organization. Like Jump Because, Art180 is based in Richmond, Virginia. You can read more info about their project here: http://www.art180.org/index.shtml
I stand for equality and fair treatment in all ways, for both people and animals.

"Jumping for the one and only day they allowed pedestrians on the bridge. I'm not really sure why we were all so excited about this, but it's the little things in life that make us want to jump :)" - Jenny
