It is commonly referred to as the daring jumping spider, or bold jumping spider. The average size of adults ranges from roughly 13 to 20 mm in length.... ...These spiders have been known to jump up to 50 times their own body length by suddenly increasing the blood pressure in the third or fourth pair of legs.,[1][2] and the male may jump away during mating if the female approaches too quickly.[3] Like other jumping spiders, due to their large, forward-facing eyes, they have very good stereoscopic vision. This aids them when stalking prey, and allows some visual communication with others of their species, such as courting 'dances'."

 In November of 2011, we asked jumpers to submit a photo that kept the spirit of Thanksgiving and this quote in mind:

His submission features his family, who was celebrating their first Christmas together in 5 years. As Rick put it, "That was a moment worth jumping." A wonderful JumpBecause story: Jump Because... For a Cause!
In June 2010, JumpBecause hosted a Potluck-for-a-Cause fundraiser to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. People brought amazing food, made fun crafts, participated in a raffle, and listened to great local music... and of course JUMPED! Check out the highlights of our fundraiser on the "Causes" page.
